Every NABC allows players to watch and play bridge. The Summer NABC in Providence, however, has something that, at least as far as I know, no other NABC has ever offered: a chance to watch a play about bridge. It was written by professional playwright and bridge columnist Adam Parrish. It is called Bridge to Nowhere.

It will be showing for four evenings: Wednesday July 20 through Saturday July 23. It is about two professional bridge players forming a partnership. Warning: The ACBL's Zero Tolerance policy will not be enforced for their interactions.

Adam provided this synopsis: Bruce Avery and Spencer Townsend are among the top professional bridge players in the country. Bruce is brash and outspoken, and he’s got a reputation as a difficult guy to play with. Spencer is a mild-mannered intellectual. Bridge to Nowhere is a two-person play that tracks the progression of their bridge partnership. Will opposites attract, or is it doomed from the beginning?

Here are the details:

I heard that it is boffo!

The theater's capacity is only one hundred people. It might, therefore, be a good idea to buy tickets soon if you are interested.
